Nico DeBarmore is a photographer in the North Mississippi area. He brings a certain zest for life and a contagious excitement to those he interacts with, making the artistic process not only meaningful but also a joy. Raised in North Carolina, Nico began his self-study of photography at age 14 in his middle school darkroom with an old Minolta camera and black & white film. While his creative process is now entirely digital, he still relies on knowledge from days of film and darkroom to create art.

Nico draws from a wide variety of experiences to provide a unique service to his clients. His passion for traveling and the outdoors has led him into challenging situations around the world and in a variety of cultures – from documenting the behavior of endangered mountain gorillas in the Congo to balancing precariously above the terraced hillsides of Machu Picchu for the perfect sweeping panoramic image – he does what it takes to get the shot. His experiences and successes interacting with cultures varying from Serbian to Brazilian and Cambodian to Tanzanian provide a strong foundation and understanding for communication beyond the realm of language.

“My passion for photography has brought me to many out-of-the-way places, and introduced me to quite a few interesting individuals. Challenging situations often arise, from language barriers to atmospheric light, to precarious shooting locations. Experiencing the combinations of these factors has increased my comfort zone. When I’m on the job, whether it is in the wild, at a wedding, or coaxing a smile from an executive, I am able to think on my feet to maximize the situation and deliver quality time and again.”
